Training: About

he training of both horse and rider provided by Matty Ringel is above regard. She is a kind, and informative teacher who goes out of her way to help you learn regardless of the style you ride. I have watched her take horses with little training or know-how and turn them into quality mounts that will put you in the ribbons at every show. As a trainer, Matty is one of the most competent people I have come across in my almost 20 years of riding. As a person, she is generous and enjoyable to be around. I have learned more in the time I've been riding with Matty than I have in the last 10 years and her knowledge is invaluable to me. I don't plan on ever leaving Steele Yard or Matty!

I cannot say enough good things about Matty Ringel! I am 50yrs old, been riding my whole life, but mostly western. I had some anxiety riding english and jumping for the first time, but Matty was so patient and supportive! She knew how to switch my cues from western to english and to show me how sensitive my horse was to those cues. Matty always believed in me, even when I didn't. I had a few setbacks, and she would take a step back with and help me get past my insecurities. Matty has given me the confidence to be the rider I've always wanted to be, she is encouraging, patient and above all she is kind. She has changed my life for the better.

I am lucky to call Matty my trainer. She is dedicated to making sure I succeed with all of my riding goals. She always keeps an open mind while teaching, and always finds a way to boost my confidence. We regularly share a laugh during my lessons, which isn't something you find with every trainer. I have been riding with her for a few years and I have come a long ways.

I can’t say enough positive things about Steele Yard Training and the instructor, Matty Ringel. I am in my 50s and had never ridden or sat on a horse before. Matty has safely and steadily built my skills and my confidence. When she senses I might be hesitant about trying something new, she teaches me in a way that makes perfect sense and makes me want to do it. At the same time, she’s not afraid to say, “Not quite yet, you’re not ready for that.” And that is very important! She also always keeps the horse in mind, and when her keen eyes see something off with them, she immediately makes adjustments where needed, for the horse’s safety and mine. Matty inspires me to want to learn more and practice more, and even participate in a show. Through her and Steele Yard Training, I’ve met really wonderful people whom I now call friends. I highly recommend!
